Enoch Hobbs was born in Wiltshire and arrived in Adelaide in 1852 with his wife Jane and 4 children (a child Joseph also died at sea). He lived in Willunga, Mclaren Vale then Kangarilla in about 1870, where he stayed for the rest of his life.

James Hobbs and William Hobbs moved to the Gladstone/Melrose area in the 1870s and started farming. James became insolvent in 1885 spending 6 months in the Gladstone gaol for related offences. William was apparently more successful and on retirement sold his farm near Wirrabara in 1908. Their children William George Francis Hobbs and Ethel Eva Olive Hobbs married in 1902.
Thomas Hobbs and Benjamin Hobbs moved to Cherry Gardens around 1880, working as labourers and market gardeners.
Henry Charles Hobbs worked as a bootmaker and labourer in various places ranging from the Murray Plains to Auburn, Renmark and Mildura.
Eli Hobbs worked as a labourer at Kangarilla then McLaren Flat.
