Additional Information

Henry Charles HOBBS:

Notes:

Henry Charles Hobbs was born in Gloucestershire and emigrated to South Australia with his parents on the ship 'Sultana' in 1852.

After an apprenticeship as a bootmaker, Henry travelled with his family around the Murray Plains area (Palmer to Morgan) before settling in Auburn in the late 1880s. From there they moved back to the Murray Plains and Adelaide, moving in about 1903 to Mildura in Victoria, where Susan's parents lived. Henry generally worked as a bootmaker and labourer.

It's evident that Henry stayed in touch with his family. For example, when son Willie Allen required hospital treatment in 1901, his address was given as Cherry Gardens, where his uncles Thomas and Benjamin lived.
