Life was a struggle for Bathsheba.

Both her parents were dead by the age of 23, and at 27 she had an illegitimate son Henry and married 64 year old farmer Henry Adams, presumably to legitimize her son. Son Henry was baptised on the same day she was married. Bathsheba had 3 children with Henry Adams, the last 2 dying in infancy, and the first Mary dying of smallpox aged 20.

Her husband died in 1846, and Bathsheba then had 2 more children Charles Benjamin and Lucy Ann Adams. In the 1861 census she included the forename Kitto, probably indicating the surname of their father. Both married, had children and lived to a reasonable age.

Bathsheba herself died in the Bodmin workhouse aged 71.
