Mr. Eli Gamlen, who died at his daughter's residence, First-avenue, St. Peters, in his 93rd year, was born at Lympsham, Somersetshire. He arrived in Adelaide in the ship David Malcolm on March 25, 1848. He went to the Melbourne gold digging, and afterwards began lime burning at North Adelaide. In 1854 he took up a farm at Bagot's Gap, where he remained for many years, and then removed to Eurilpa, His wife died in August, 1902. He leaves three sons and five daughters Messrs. W. H. and F. G. Gamlen (Kapunda), R. C. Gamlen (New South Wales), Mesdames P. J. Walsh (Koppio), A. Brown (Thebarton), J. I. Brown (St. Peters) , T. and D. Townsend (Western Australia). There are 44 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
