Mr. Charles Dorman, who died at his residence, Stanley-street, King's Park, on August 12, was born at Brighton, on November 16, 1860. He was the son of Mr. John Dorman, one of the early pioneers of the State, and among the earliest settlers in the Brighton district. In 1882 he married a daughter of Mr. Samuel Prior, also of Brighton, and after living for some years at Penfield, they went to Victoria and engaged in farming pursuits in the Beulah district, where they stayed for about thirty years. On Mr. Dorman's return to South Australia he lived at Clarence Park. He was a loyal adherent of the Methodist Church, as his father was before him, a local preacher for forty-five years, and he served in various capacities in other branches of Christian work. He left a widow and three sons— Messrs. H. H. Dorman (Millswood), R. C. Dorman (Clarence Park) and C. W. Dorman (Hoyleton). One son (Allan) died in 1914.
